Small device generates electricity from vibration

As the price of electricity is constantly increasing, a device that can convert energy from an existing environment in electricity would be very useful. Scientists from the University of Michigan have developed a device that can produce energy from vibrations into electricity.



This device can be much more efficient than other existing such devices. These devices can convert the vibrations emitted by factory machines into electricity. This electricity is in turn used to power wireless sensor network.



Network sensors are used to provide information to operators for any damage. Currently, TEI sensors are powered through contacts in the mains or by battery. However, maintenance and installation of sensor networks in large industrial scale is too expensive, which is practically 80% of total costs. Using this new device will drastically reduce costs.
